AIM Wireless introduces the first solution for resolving Public Safety Communication interference problems

Las Vegas (March 22, 2004) – AIM Wireless, a global wireless communications company, today introduced IMOptimizer.  IMOptimizerhas the ability to identify communication black spots and develop solutions to resolve them.  If used with Intermod60TM in network design  IMOptimizercan prevent their occurrence.  The existence of black spots is a recognized problem for the Public Safety community.  Unfortunately, black spots are difficult to predict and often become known only when a Public Safety mobile ceases to operate.  Currently, the Public Safety communication interference problem is a highly visible issue for the wireless industry.  AIM Wireless provides an immediate solution for a complex and pressing issue.

IMOptimizer provides unparalleled speed and is the only solution on the market today that allows RF engineers to pinpoint the type and origin of interference during network optimization. When analyzing data gathered during drive testing, the solution generates summaries and details indicating whether interference poses a threat to clear communications. RF engineers can then delve further into the IMOptimizerTM and find out the exact type of interference, which carrier or carriers are causing interference and the channel or channels where the interference is occurring. As a result, carriers can quickly resolve even the most problematic network issues, enhancing wideband services and spectrum efficiency.

IMOptimizer and Intermod60TM is really changing the way I run analysis for my customers, and I'm really impressed about the things I can do with it, said Juan Macias, RF engineer, SpectraSite Communications. Most recently, I conducted an analysis for a client experiencing RF interference. I ran the report considering all the intermodulation results. I was then able to determine the exact channels that were affected due to the Intermodulation products leaving the interference or isolation figure clean. I was also able to place my other tenant at their desired height, advising them on what channels to use in order to avoid the intermodulation.”

“Interference is continually being introduced into the wireless network with     potentially numerous external and internal sources acting simultaneously on the system,” said Ahmad Malkawi, president and CEO of AIM Wireless. “To keep pace in this dynamic environment, solutions need to identify interference essentially as it occurs. IMOptimizer is the only network optimization solution available today and pinpoints the type of RF interference, the channels where RF interference is    occurring, and the carrier or carriers causing the interference.”

IMOptimizer supports all air interfaces such as AM/FM, SMR, iDEN, CDMA, UMTS, GSM, IS136 and GPRS/EDGE and provides a comprehensive database, easily accessible via pull-down menus, consisting of libraries for antenna gain patterns, filters/multicouplers, base station equipment, frequencies and bandwidths. Data can also be scanned into the database from a wide variety of devices or by importing tab-delimited text.

IMOptimizer covers a frequency range from 1kHz to 100 GHz and considers all channels in the bandwidth eliminating the need for channel clipping and assumptions about frequency hits. Additional features and capabilities include:

ú                     Considers thousands of transmitted and received frequencies

ú                     Provides database of antenna patterns (receiver and transmitter antenna)

ú                     Filter import capability

ú                     Supports propagation (prediction model) with enhanced correction factors

ú                     Considers receiver and transmitter filters with import capability

ú                     Enables users to adjust transmitted powers

ú                     Provides different outputs and summaries, pinpointing solutions in minutes.

This solution is a powerful new addition to AIM InterMod60, a proven tool at predicting possible RF interference including intermodulation, receiver desensitization, transmitter noise, harmonics and spurious output across co-located sites and rooftops in a matter of seconds.
